Industrial Design Consultancy is one of the UK’s most established and innovative product development consultancies offering creative and technical solutions for consumer, medical and industrial markets. Backed by broad experience in each discipline, IDC’s designers, engineers and model makers integrate all aspects of their services to optimize product designs for their clients.

IDC are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled student who can assist in delivering creative and technical output.

Working with the team, the successful candidate will take part in projects across the consumer, medical and industrial sectors and along the whole design process, with responsibilities including but not limited to;

  • Brainstorming
  • Concept sketching
  • 3D modelling
  • Graphic design
  • Prototyping
  • Testing
  • Supplier liaison
  • Manufacturer liaison


This is a paid, fixed-term placement which will be running from around July 2019 and will be a years placement. 



The applicant will need to be a problem solver, able to multi-task, have good communications skills, and have a flexible, creative and proactive approach.


  • Knowledge/experience of materials and processes, e.g. plastics, metals, mechanisms, electronics and graphic design.
  • Competency in either Solidworks or Pro/E is desirable.
